Italy and the United Arab Emirates enjoy excellent political relations, witnessed by the intensity of exchanged visits, constant coordination on major international dossiers and a rapidly growing economic and trade partnership.
Since October 2023, bilateral relations between the two countries have seen the start of a phase of great dynamism. This is witnessed by the numerous visits of Italian political representatives to the UAE, no less than 30 from October 2023 to April 2025. During this period, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni visited the UAE three times, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, twice, and Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, four times.
This phase of great dynamism culminated in the historic State visit of the Emirati President, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to Rome in February 2025. It was the first State visit exchanged between Italy and the Emirates since the establishment of diplomatic relations and sanctioned at the highest level the excellence of relations and the desire to develop them further, with new projects of economic, trade and – above all – investment cooperation.
