G7 (TAORMINA 26-27 MAY 2017). TEMPORARY RESTORATION OF CONTROLS TO THE DOMESTIC BORDERS

The Italian Ministry of the Interior, pursuant to Article 25 of Regulation (EC) 399 of 9 March 2016 (“Schengen Borders Code”), has taken the decision to restore controls to land, air and sea borders, during the period from 10 to 30 May 2017 in view of the G7 summit scheduled in Taormina on May 26 and 27.

The enclosed note explains how this temporary provision will work.

Point n. 3. clarifies that the provision of stamping the passport will not apply to foreign travelers coming from the Schengen area. Consequently, as clarified in the next point n. 4, foreigners coming from another Schengen State, who hold a valid VSU for one entry (with an entry stamp into the Schengen Area), will be considered in possession of a valid authorization to enter into Italian territory, as far as holding a still valid VISA.
